Born in 1979 to Austrian and Japanese parents in Vienna, Maiko Ripplinger grew up in Lower Austria. Already a young pianist taking lessons with Martina Schneider, she won the Petrof Piano Competition in 1990. Between the age of 12 and 18, she attended Elisabeth Dvorak-Weisshaar’s preparatory piano course at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. She then went on to study Instrumental (Voice) Education (IGP) for piano with Carlos Rivera-Aguilar and Michael Hruby at the same university. Simultaneously, she studied Vocal Accompaniment for Lied and Oratorio with Carolyn Hague and Birgid Steinberger at the Konservatorium Wien University.
She has taken numerous classes in German Lied (song) interpretation, taught by Julius Drake, Malcolm Martineau, Helmut Deutsch, Bernarda Fink and Breda Zakotnik. Maiko Ripplinger has played concerts in Europe (Rome, Istanbul, Vienna) and Japan and played piano accompaniment in CD productions. Since 2007, she has also been working as a piano teacher and répétiteuse at the school of music in Wolkersdorf im Weinviertel.
